Those plates would have to be screwed into the bottom of the cabinet or floor. This is a very nice unit… super quiet and strong. It goes up high. I had to have one too. Mine is mounted to a panel that I built to hid an old alcove for a wood stove. It moves up and down smoothly, and, if it weren't for the resonant panel that I bolted it to, it would be silent. As it is, it is pretty quiet. I have no reservations about raising and lowering the TV after bedtime. Installation was pretty simple. Watch a couple of videos if you're not as familiar with these sorts of things. The lift itself is all steel and quite strong. I have no doubt it could lift a TV much bigger than our 47". viewing angle is good, but the lift actually makes the TV parallel to the wall, so if you're used to a screen that tilts slightly down, that may take some getting used to. All in all, it was worth the cost and effort.
