Best to look for on CL/Market for used one. **Q: I absolutely cannot pry open the black battery container, someone said to pick it open, i tried with a table knife, still wouldnt open, afraid i will** A: I had terrible time opening the battery compartment. I am female and over 70 so my hand length and strength isn’t anywhere what it used to be. I had to get two silicone pieces, one for the bottom and one for the top part to then counter twist the two. It still was very hard but it finally opened.. There is a very line rubber ring that is at the top of the compartment lid where the screw ridges are. Mine was broken and probably caught in there. **Q: Can I purchase just the battery holder at the bottom. We had to pry it off with difficulty. Don’t want rechargeable.** A: On occasion Coleman has sold the battery holder packs for about $3 each but they are usually out of stock. Prices otherwise are basically the same as a new lantern. I don't know now, though -- they have quit using the battery holder pack design and the battery holder is now molded into the bottom of the lantern. **Q: Where is this made?** A: There is a cover on the bottom of the lantern that is removable to allow the batteries to be installed. The word "China" is molded in this cover when the cover is viewed from the bottom of the lantern.
