I just took my shop vac and used the wide attachment to vacuum it, which seems to have worked. There was a slight odor at first, which I think is normal considering the material, but that went away after a few days. I really like the pattern of this rug and the length was perfect for the amount of stairs I have. It is a thick rug. To me, it feels soft on the feet when walking on it. I did however buy a roll of padding and cut to size for each stair tread and that helped to cushion each step even more. I attached to each riser and stair tread with the Ryobi staple gun and used golden colored staples (Harbor Freight) which helped conceal them. I did go crazy with the amount I used, but the rug is firmly attached and doesn’t budge! I don’t have a high traffic household, so I definitely feel this rug will hold up for years.
