It's soft but firm. It wasn't hot to wear either. I honestly really like it. The item stayed on my body the whole entire time. I didn't have to adjust it even when we were dancing. I wore this item for a good 5 hours and didn't feel any type of discomfort. If you think that it's too tight on you, don't force it and use a different size.QUALITY:The merchandise has a good quality fabric. You can tell that the hinges are intact and it will take force for anyone to pull these hooks. The garter is pretty stretchy so, if you think that the item is slightly small, you can stretch this without any issues. However, if it's too tight, just get a replacement one that's a size up.NOW THE ISSUE:The only issue I have is my hives. After the party, I removed this around my waist to discover that I had an allergic reaction to this item. If you think that the item is too small, it's really not. This is caused by an allergic reaction to the fabric. I have no idea what's on that that caused me to have this. It's severely itchy and it's painful. This isn't just a regular hive. According to the sizing I should have gotten a 5x. However, upon reading another reviewer with the same measurements who sent it back for a perfect fitting large, I did the same on the first try. Success. I wore it the same afternoon I received it and even slept in it over night. A very noticeable difference in the morning! I am on hook number 6, and will continue to shrink with it.Update: January 25, 2023Down to the next hook!
