Review: Does exactly what I need it to do. - Perfect size for my 3" to 4" nursery pots. I feel it would work for a bigger pot as well. Good price for the length and quality of the wick. The look is really of no interest in what I do with it...its a good light weight. The white color doesn't bother me...it sometimes turns green in the water reservoir anyway. This is the second time I've purchased this and I'm very satisfied with it's wicking action. I recommended to a friend of mine and she's satisfied with it as well.
Review: Excellent wicking performance! - These are great for my seedling starts! I was a little concern initially if they would wick enough water since they are only 1/6". Well, these wicks perform so well, that if they did any better, I would worry about the soil getting too wet. I will start making self-watering pots for my indoor plants with these also. If you look closely in the photo, you can see water droplets inside the transparent cup as evident of water being pulled up. I've had this setup for about 2 weeks now and have only watered from below through the wicks. I feel with the amount of water supplied to the plants via the wick is just right.

**Q: I would like to use to make self watering moss poles. Do you think it will mildew and work properly? Thank you for your feedback.**
A: It certainly did hold the water as intended.  Not sure about the mildew issue.  Anything that does not get much sunlight is subject to mildew/mold.  Might be worth the try.

**Q: Will this wick excess water out of the pot?**
A: I have not had the problem of water going from the pot to the water container even when the water container is dry.  I don't think the soil would be wet enough for it to act as a wick.

**Q: Will this work for a tree planted outdoors?**

You could use multiple pieces of wicks and a large enough bucket for a tree planted outdoors.
