Review: Fits 6'1". Strong net/pole but folding warps it. Flimsy stakes. Roof gap requires produce bag plug. - As a 6'1" camper, I was happy to find this bivvy tent has plenty of room and a strong, durable mesh and pole system that handles moderate pressure without ripping or breaking. However, it has a major engineering flaw: a double-zipper roof design that leaves a quarter-size gap right where the zippers meet. Bugs congregate there immediately, sensing your heat. To keep mosquitoes and noseeums out, you absolutely must cram a thin grocery produce bag or some Saran wrap into that hole to plug it. Edit: after living in it for a week I must say I do like it. It's super roomy and I see the other model has solid fabric over the main dome which I really would not have liked. I just found another pocket. They're handy side pockets on either side in here. Great for a phone or glasses or book or whatever you think. I like how there's solid fabric of the first half foot of the side walls so I feel like it keeps up sneaky smaller bugs. And sure water gets through the bottom but that's to be expected I put a waterproof tarp underneath it anyway and on top. I just rolled up this sides of the tarp for breeze. That works really good because I can unzip either side of my tent to unroll either side of the tarp in case of rain or if I want some breeze and openness. I bought a noseum net to throw over this and I'm really glad. I can just unzip this and lift that up if I want or if I want to take my shoes on and off I can sit here and have that secondary net over me. I duct taped a produce bag to one of the zippers so I always have that handy to plug the stupid quarter size hole on the very top of the dome where these zippers meet. Good tip there. I'm bumping it up from three stars to five because I think this is probably the best model of this type of mosquito tents You're going to find here. I definitely wish it had that middle hoop like some models I've seen if you can find that one get it because yes it does sag in the middle too much it barely is above my knees and the tarp brings it down a bit. All my moving around in here with my gear I still have not created a rip. It's not weak material. The tent setup is fast if everything is aligned, but packing it down is an absolute nightmare. Any amount of wrestling with the internal slinky pole will warp it if you don't fold it perfectly. Once warped, the tent gets tipsy and the sides lean in, requiring you to physically guide and rub the pole inside its sleeve to coax it back into shape. Finally, the included stakes are incredibly flimsy; they bent quickly when being hammered into medium-packed earth. If you cinch the foot-side maximum tight, it won't sag to your knees, but definitely plan on upgrading the stakes and bringing a plastic bag for the roof gap.
Review: Almost perfect - -Got not bites -Easy set-up -Plenty of space for my size: 5'7", 135lbs. -Head area more spacious than I expected -Zipper works smoothly -Easy in/out because two zippers -Lightweight -Discreet -Little pocket inside -Fabric the zipper is attached to is not heavy - avoid using it fast or pulling hard. Actually, all the fabric I think can tear if you're not careful with it. Not heavy duty. But not totally cheap, I'm happy with it. -Folding it up was awful. After ~45 min. it was good enough to get back into the carry pouch whew! The directions were terrible; only vaguely useful. I'm sure it's just a matter of practice. My other pop-up tent is the same, it's not this tent's issue. It's the nature of the design. But that's the price of the ease of set-up. -Sides have no loops for the ground stakes so it's really loose. But once I was inside it didn't matter. I can sew loops on easily (I think?) if I feel the need. -The bottom (by feet) hoop does not stay up on it's own, need to use the cord to tie it to something. But nothing heavy duty; I tied it to a very small log/big branch that was on the ground with a regular bow tie. (see pics/vids)
