We use the protein within 30 minutes of a hard workout (2+ hours). We ALWAYS use the recovery drink after every workout, immediately. We trained for an ironman this year and there were three times I did not have my recovery accelerator and I was sore the next day, all three times. The recovery accelerator is worth it's weight in gold. Drink it quickly, as soon as you finish your workout. Then within the 30 minute window replenish with the protein drink. I must admit, I never liked the taste of any of the flavors offered of the accelerator, I actually dislike them. I still drank them because they were that helpful. Hope that helped! **Q: What does FFP mean in this product?** A: I see it listed as an option now... Have never purchased the one with FFP. It includes an optimal ratio of 4:1 carbs to proteins (for more on the science behind this, see the book Optimal Muscle Recovery by Edmund Burke). Of course, my perception that this works may be all in my head because I paid $2/serving for something that smells like baby puke and tastes like rotten papaya, but I seem to recover faster when taking this stuff so I'll keep at it. The primary protein source is pea protein which isn't the most bio-available protein but it's vegan and thus doesn't include whey protein which bothers me. This product is similar to Endurox R4 (invented by Edmund Burke) but R4 contains both whey and soy protein, which I'd rather avoid. I’ve taken it after every workout and have felt minimal soreness. I decided to not take it one time to see how my body would react without it and felt really sore. Since it’s pretty pricey I’ll use half a serving after a lighter workout and it still manages to reduce the soreness. I gave it 4 stars because it has a really high calorie content at 90 calories a serving compared to 15 to nine with other post workouts. I probably won’t buy more because of this. Yes, very, and not too sweet.Is It Gritty? On a scale of 1-10, 10 being sand in your mouth and 1 being smooth as milk, I would rate this a 5. It will tickle your throat if you dont mix it well.Does it Mix Well? Yes and quickly, however, you will notice that ingredients will start to settle at the bottom of the bottle. Just a quick shake and it comes right back up. I would recommend doing this every couple of sips or else you are left with grit in the end. I use one packet per 1 20oz bottle of water.Does it Work Well? For me, yes, totally smooths out the post workout crash.I have been using this product for over a year now. I originally purchased it to offset muscle soreness post workout, which it does well. A nice side effect is that it cuts down on inflammation post workout. I suffer from an auto-immune inflammatory condition, and this seems to keep the post workout flare ups at bay. I have used this product through a knee surgery, which I believed helped with the muscle soreness post pt workout.
