What a complete difference! Now I'm wondering what this even is. I was new to all of this when I ordered and thought, "ok... they say it's beeswax and organic. It's yellow. It must be beeswax". I noticed it smelled smoky, but as a newb thought that was normal. It was small, melted good, and was easy to use. So, I thought great - happy with my beeswax. Wrong! Like I said, after ordering elsewhere and SMELLING and SEEING true beeswax, I wonder what this other stuff is. I have taken a lot of classes since my first review and now know what to look for, the do's and dont's, the qualities and propteries a product should have, etc. And, yes, beeswax should smell like honey! Also, it is NOT bright yellow and you should always readily have access to country of origin, when the product was distilled or the production/extraction date, and the expected shelf life. I don't even know what to do with this other stuff. I certainly don't want it on my body! Maybe a candle, but I'm not sure about even breathing it in and who wants to smell a "smoke" candle! Wish I had known then what I know now. I guess that is what is referred to as "learning the hard way". In this industry, I have definitely learned YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR and if it seems to good of a deal to be true, IT IS! I came back in hopes of saving someone from my misfortune. My advice - educate yourself and buy from reputable sources!I was a little skeptical after reading some reviews as whether to purchase or not. This is my first go with beeswax. So far I have used it to make homemade organic lip balm & body butter. It worked great! Melted down nicely and was easy to work with. Some say it has a terrible smell. I did not feel that way. Mind you, I have never smelled beeswax before, but I do believe I would know "terrible" if I smelled it. It has a "different" smell and I did smell an undertone of a little smokeyness, but not overwhelming. It did not affect my products, nor were any smells detectable. It came in a zip lock bag as stated, but also then put in another plastic bag. I may would purchase beeswax elsewhere just to do a comparison, but would most likely purchase again. It melted down smooth and wasn't gritty or grainy. Happy with my purchase. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars The smell is the only issue. *by K***G on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on April 24, 2016* This is the first time I've bought beeswax in pastille form--they are soooo much easier than trying to grate whole blocks, but this product has a strong smell of plastic while in the package and of tobacco or smoke when used in homemade lotion. I've also used this beeswax as a small percentage of a soap recipe, and the smell wasn't noticeable there, so I may use it up by using only small amounts at a time to avoid the overwhelming smell.I am very attracted to the ease of using the pastilles, but the impression I've had from reading reviews of several different beeswax pastille products from different sellers is that the process of creating the pastilles (rather than leaving the beeswax is a larger block) may be responsible for the smell. Across several products, there are always those complaining of this smell but also plenty of people who are happy with the product. So I don't believe the smell is indicative of the quality of the beeswax, and it may be rather hit or miss on whether you end up with the smell when you order.I think I'll be ordering blocks of beeswax from now on and dealing with the grating (something to occupy the hands while watching TV, I suppose) to be more certain of avoiding the smell. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great product! *by C***A on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on March 19, 2016* These beeswax pastilles are great! Everything about them is quality. I have used blocks of beeswax before and had difficulty with them, so I have been looking for pastilles. After I ordered them, they arrived in a zip lock bag, and double packaged in another bag.. When I opened the ziplock bag, I was impressed with the texture and color. There was a slight smell from the plastic bag that didn't bother me at all. I first tried melting them in the microwave, but they got too hot and didn't melt well. So tonight I melted them in a double boiler. It did take about 45 min to melt 1/4 cup, but once melted, the result was a beautiful clear yellow color and no scent at all. I have blended the beeswax into melted shea butter and coconut oil to make a body butter. It's been several hours and is setting up very well.
