I wasn't sure it'd work for that purpose, but it does, beautifully. The wax discs it came with are great too, I just put one on the bottom plate, pop on a ball of dough, top with another disc and press. This is going to save me so much time when firing up my wood-fired oven to host big pizza parties. Getting perfect circles will take practice, but I am already delighted with the results. This is heavy cast iron and will hopefully last years. I have noticed some comments about shoddy bolts, but the ones mine came with are fine. I am very happy with this product. How this does the tortilla come out pressed?** A: The gap is minimal. It surprised me just how easy it is to press both the tortillas and the parathas I have made so far. This is a chunky bit of kit and I can honestly say, the results far exceeded my expectations and give me a finished bread you would have to be pretty skilled to get using a rolling pin. **Q: Hi the handle is opposite from the picture, is that ok ?** A: I don't really understand the question? The handle is as illustrated. It tensions down on the plate to press the tortilla into shape. **Q: Will this press to 1mm thickness** A: I'm not a physicist, but I would think in theory there is no limit to how thin you can get a tortilla or chapati, as the press works with applied down force. However, in reality with the operator creating the pressure, my experience is this will produce thin breads with consistent thickness (I haven't actually measured the thickness) in a fraction of the time it takes to roll out with a rolling pin.
