Looks like it can easily cut or become embedded in your skin.** A: No gloves needed. The tiny pieces are not really that sharp. The material is so light weight it requires negligible pressure from your fingers to handle it. It doesn't stick to your fingers any more than damp sand. Its not toxic either. I usually don't handle it much anyway, just dump a small portion onto a surface and push it into a neat pile with my knife. Magnesium is softer than steel and doesn't form very sharp edges like steel when it it shaved into these small pieces. I've found i really only use it in the very wettest conditions anyway to help dry out damp tinder. **Q: When it says free container, does it mean one extra? As in two separate tins?** A: No just one tin. It is still nice. **Q: what is the shelf life** A: Shelf life is unlimited. Magnesium is an element and does not deteriorate into anything. It doesn't oxidize much either.
