Every unit we used the switch in needed to be replace with a glass reed switch. **Q: how does this work? Does it need a magnet on it to stay on. Or hit w/ magnet to turn it on, and again for off?** A: When you approach a magnet the switch changes state. When you move it away the switch returns to its normal position. D'ont hit it. Do not hit it or you will break the glass. **Q: Is any one having issues with the normally closed unit? They seem to fail after a few cycles.** A: Not using NC units but no issues after 6 months of service - hope that helps. **Q: how does this work? Does it need a magnet on it to stay on.
