I tend to check by putting my finger into the top soil about an inch to check dryness if I'm not sure. It needs less in the winter. Never let it sit in water for more than a few hours as it rots the roots. Feeding is best during spring and summer, nothing from late autumn to spring. I also spray the leaves with water a couple of times a week.. seems to improve the colour. **Q: Can you put in bathroom** A: I think yes you can if there is sufficient light in bathroom .
