**Q: Do you recommend to purchase live plants or silk plants for this tank? Do the live plants make the tank much dirtier?**
A: For this tank I wouldn’t suggest getting live plants. Maybe a moss ball but my plants died because there wasn’t enough light. If you do have live plants you should probably purchase another light source. I just got a different tank. I wasn’t happy with this one

**Q: what kind of heater would be best for this tank for bettas?**
A: Note that the response that states that Betas do not need a heater is absolutely incorrect. Betas are a tropical fish, and the optimal water temperature is 76-82 degrees F. Unless you live in a tropical climate and no not have air conditioning, room temperature in most instances will be far too cold, and will make the fish sluggish and prone to illness. Will it live for a couple months, yes. But under the right conditions, it can live years. Currently, I have a Beta in a 1-gal plastic tank (not this one yet, I'm looking to up-size) with a heater designed for Betas that will keep the water temp 10 degrees warmer than the room temp, which accounts for most people keeping their thermostat between 65-70 degrees. However, pay attention to the gallon rating of the heater. This is a 3 gallon tank, and will require a more substantial heater. I have never had any problem sticking the heater directly to the plastic. Think about it, the fish swims right by the heater. It can't get so hot as to melt plastic, or it would super heat the water in that area and cook the fish.

**Q: what size filters for Tetra 3 gallon**
A: The half moon tank comes with a small filter. I have 2 half moon tanks, and I love them! I have had mine going on 2 years. The filters will need to be renewed within a year to 1/12 yrs to keep your fish healthy.

**Q: Can you use the bubbler without the lights?**
A: Yes. The air stone gets fueled from the air intake which is on a separate electrical lead from the LEDs. Even if you don't use the lights, you still have to wrangle that wire out of the tank. The most difficult thing is keeping the air stone weighted down by the rocks. It came loose and floated up so many times that I stopped using it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good little tank after some tweaks

I'm going into my 2nd week with this tank and made a few adjustments that resolve the LED bubbler from floating to the top all the time. The 2 annoying things I noticed once I had set it all up was the fact the LED bubbler wouldn't stay on the bottom and the lid kept falling off. To resolve the LED bubbler issue, I found a small rock, just about the same size as the bubbler and about an inch in thickness. I wanted to use a rock that I could conceal well but also have some weight to it. Being in Texas, we have a ton of limestone rocks on our land and after researching online, I discovered limestone was a great option. It holds well underwater (be warned that some rocks may start to disintegrate or chalk after being underwater for some time. I boiled water and allowed the rock to soak for 2 hrs to ensure it was clean. Do not use soap when doing this as it can disrupt the ecosystem inside the tank. Once the rock was clean, I attached the bubbler on top of it with a zip tie. This way I could bury the limestone rock under the aquarium gravel and now the whole thing has enough weight to stay on the bottom. Problem solved! The issue with the lid, I discovered, that while it is true the tank bows out slightly in the back due to the weigh of the water (an issue of poor design), the lid does not sit on top of the aquarium after all. There is a small lip on the front of the lid and it fits down inside in top of the tank. Rather than attempting to set the lid directly on top, you insert the lip slightly on the top and it fits securely and tightly. This was discovered, mind you, after the lid fell off into the tank over 20 times. I was very annoyed and even when we went to feed them, one small touch and the lid was off. My husband realized I had it on wrong the whole time. Once we figured that out, the lid has not fallen into the tank since. Be sure when you fill the tank, you fill it high enough to have the water line just under the spout (or lip) of the filter. If you fail to have enough water, the filter will not work properly and therefore, the tank will not cycle correctly and more than likely will result in dead fish. Be sure you see water spewing back out of the spout of the filter back into the tank. Again, since I've only had it for 2 weeks, I can't say much for the longevity of the filter itself and/or how reliable the tank is. However, for a starter tank for my 4 year old to have 2 small fish inside, it was a hit! We also got a small moss ball (can buy online on Amazon or at your local pet store or fish store) and this also helps with the natural filterization in the tank. I have the tank situated close enough to a window to allow some sunlight in. The moss ball needs some sun in order to stay alive. Do not overfill this small tank with too many fish. You will end up with to much ammonia and have to clean it out more often than you would like. I recommend either one betta, 2 small Glo Fish, or 2 small guppies or 2 small mollies. Maybe you can get away with a dwarf frog and a small angelfish. The frogs, while they are fun to watch swim around, dirty up the tank much faster than fish do. Plus, they eat bloodworms which also have a tendency to dirty up your water quicker. Add some weight to your bubbler like I did and this will resolve the biggest complaint you see about this tank. Otherwise, I am pleased with my purchase and I'll update this post when I have had it longer.
