The expanding bung method of securing the front mudguard into the hole in the underside of the forks works well although on the basis it is working against gravity, I decided to add a couple of tie wraps for added peace of mind. I used releasable black plastic tie wraps which provide a nice strong section but easy to remove if needed. The end result was very neat and unobtrusive. For info, I was fitting to 27.5" x 2.8" tyres and the overall fit was very good although I did add an extra mudflap to the rear mudguard just to ensure any spray would be minimised.
