Good for Light to Moderate Duty Cleaning - Extra Battery Recommended
After using this Hoover cleaner for a few months, to clean both hardwood and tile floors, I can report that it is a pretty decent cleaner, with a few important points to be made:- it is quite light weight and easy to handle. Cordless so maneuverability is not complicated by a power cord dangling from the handle. The brush head pivots easily when in use.- this cleaner is not going to accomplish heavy scrubbing or anything that I would call deep cleaning. It is good for cleaning floors that are not too terribly dirty, where a heavy scrubbing would be necessary.- It is necessary to take your time to effectively clean floors. Multiple passes are needed, using just enough of the floor cleaner to wet the floor and allow the brushes to do some modest scrubbing. I continue to go over each area sufficiently to clean and then vacuum up the dirty water and leave the floor dry - this mans that I generally go over each area at least 5-6 times when I'm cleaning using this Hoover. If you are in a hurry, this is not the cleaner to be using - some patience is required.- The battery life is only modest. I can clean the floor in one moderately sized room before needing to recharge the battery. And the battery does not get fully recharged very quickly - it seems to take several hours. If I leave the battery on the charger for just an hour or so, it will only provide another 10-15 minutes of usage.- I only operate the unit on the maximum setting. The 'eco' setting does not provide sufficient cleaning power, in my opinion.Given my experience that this cleaner can only be used for a limited amount of time before exhausting the battery, and the length of time required to recharge the battery once it has been exhausted, I ended up concluding that it was necessary to have an extra battery on hand. I have obtained this Hoover ONEPWR 4.0 Ah Lithium Ion Battery, BH25040 , which provides the same capacity as the battery supplied with the unit, so that I can alternate batteries and make greater use of the cleaner without waiting for one or both to be recharged.Bottom line, if you want a cleaner to do the kitchen floor, or other small to medium sized room, and if the cleaning job is not too demanding, this will do the job. If you want to be able to do more, a second battery (at least) will be necessary.

Everything I hoped for
I have a lot of linoleum, vinyl, and tile in my house and so the super basic swiffer I had just wasn't cutting it anymore. I have what I estimate is around 800sq ft of hard flooring total (in addition to about 2000sqft of carpet) so it's a good amount of flooring to constantly maintain. The flooring is spread among three floors so I also needed a solution that was as portable as the swiffer. It seems like this mop/vacuum was made for me.I ran on ECO since it felt like that was plenty of power and I took my time and double and triple passed with short HIGH power bursts sections just to make sure I got everything extra clean and I completed the house in about 30 mins with 2 of 4 lights remaining on the battery. I emptied the tank once mid-clean and the water color was not something that reflects well on the swiffer haha. Overall the work was significantly easier and the floors were visibly cleaner than before AND I didn't have to sweep/vacuum the flooring prior to mopping since this thing picks it all up in one motion. I love that instead of having to press down and scrub with a manual mop that all I have to do is hit a button to bump up to high and just run over the spot with no additional exertion and I can annihilate any grime and pick up any random bits of food or dirt.Maintenance and cleaning for me was no issue as disassembling and rinsing the cover and roller was quite simple and the tank comes apart easy with a design that doesn't seem to give many places for grime to wedge inside. I noticed the self clean doesn't really seem to change anything visibly but it probably helps internally so I plan to run that process twice with each run.I only wish there were a slightly more automatic self cleaning/maintenance/charging system for people like my grandparents who are not as nimble as I am to take the mop apart and rinse the parts off and for those not as technologically/mechanically savvy. A dock that cleans and charges just by placing the mop inside would be an instant win for many people. As a side note: I had an idea to prevent washing hair and other bits of stuff down the drain. I am going to try pouring the tank water into a cheap coffee filter and then just tossing that.

Textured Floor Tile Deep Cleaning with Hoover Floormate
The Hoover Floormate is fine for light grout & tile cleaning jobs. However...Our white textured tile floors had not had a deep cleaning for some 15 years, when they were first installed. The dirt had really become embedded in the grout grooves and textured surfaces. This Hoover Cleaner helped make our floor look like new, but it required extra work. It was not up to doing the job by itself, and required dividing floor into 4x4 or 5x5 sections and working on each one by one. Here is what I did:1. Vacuumed the floor2. Filled the Floormate solution tank with water mixed with grout/tile cleaning fluid as indicated and gave floor section a preliminary cleaning3. Applied vinegar to grout, followed by solution of water, a squirt of dish soap, and baking soda directly to the floor4. Used the grout brush to rub mixture into grout and tiles, then let stand for 5 to 10 minutes5. Scrub grout and tile surface as thoroughly as possible. Sprinkled lightly baking soda and scrubed more as needed6. Used Floormate a second time to clean floor surface, passing over each section slowly, emptying vacuumed water tank and rinsing scrub brush as needed7. Mopped up residue with a large clean cloth.8. When the whole tiled floor was done, I finished with a Swiffer. Our tile floors literally sparkle now, much to the delight of my wife.
