A: Yes, the hdmi out cable will carry sound.

A: It is metal.

**Q: Will this and this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/b0049scb2y/ref=ya_st_dp_summary    give me 5.1 surround?**
A: I have the extractor and a similar HDMI switch and it does a good job of decoding the surround sound data from the HDMI. It does seem to be limited to 5.1 though but for me this isn't a problem right now.

**Q: Is this convert hdcp 2.2 compatible?**
A: As far as I can tell no. Doesn't say anything about that.
