It's very thin so works very well for whittling but remember it's not a dedicated whittling knife so is not as good as one. Also since you menshion whittling you will need to re sharpen and strop often no matter what knife you buy. This one will need sharpening more often as the steel will be softer than a dedicated whittling knife.
