I have had the cheap black Benson base on the right of my picture for a couple of years. Not only was it poorly performing but also it was long and unwieldy. The new Fender mini P Bass is about the size of a standard electric guitar and feels so good to play. The unfinished neck and smaller body make it an absolute pleasure to use and it is much less unwieldy on stage than a regular basis. I have yet to check the set up and intonation but it plays fine at the bottom of the neck for everything I need so I am happy with it. It’s also has terrific punch in the low notes and with the town rode off it sounds fantastic. If you need a base for occasional use and you don’t want to break the bank this thing is brilliant value for money and beautifully made. Review: So good for the price - This is the second time I have bought this model of mini P bass and they are fantastic value for money. The sound is great, a proper P bass growl or smooth depending on where you set the tone control. I have bought this one as a back up as I have been so impressed with the black one I have, and this one also didn't dissapoint. It has a very nice shade of red and £10 cheaper than the black so I have both. As the neck is a lot shorter and the body a lot smaller than the full size it is so much easier to handle and play, plus a lot lighter. I am using it in a band line up and it's definitly pulling it's weight. It is great for begginers and seasoned musicians alike.
