The pockets don’t provide much room for anything and are mostly decorative. There is an inner crouch pouch that does the job if positioned when you put them on. You will need to monitor it or you may end up with a wardrobe malfunction during some exercises. The fabric is somewhat sheer thanks to the ventilation holes. I ordered the darker colors so it isn’t an issue. My spouse has said I should leave the house in them, luckily I workout at home. These are very comfortable and well made shorts.
