Barrettine Wood Protective Treatment (Black, 5L) is an oil-based wood sealer designed for exterior timber structures. It combines water-repellent resins and biocidal preservatives to prevent mould, algae, decay, swelling, and twisting. Featuring UV and fade-resistant pigments, it delivers long-lasting color protection while penetrating deeply to enhance wood grain with a translucent finish. Safe for beneficial insects and plants once dry, it covers 5-6 square meters per 5L and is ideal for sheds, fences, pergolas, and more.

## Description

Product Description Barrettine’s wood protector is a wood Sealer For rough, sawn or smooth timber. It contains water repellent resins And a Biocide film wood Preserver to prevent the surface growth of mould/algae and together This helps reduce decay, swelling, twisting of wood. Pigments have good UV fade resistance and Will help protect wood from UV damage. Barrettine’s wood protector is an ideal treatment for outdoor treated timber structures such as sheds, fences, trellis, pergola and timber gazeboes. As a wood Sealer it provides good water repellence/beading. Oil/spirit based for deeper penetration leaving a transparent/translucent finish colour effect to wood, where the grain texture is still visible. (Not ideal for decking or garden furniture structures as rub resistance may not be sufficient). Directions 1. Stir or shake the can before use. 2. Apply in suitable conditions, ideally when weather conditions are dry and still. 3. Brush, dip, roller or spray the product onto the wood surface. 4. If spraying, use an airless sprayer with a minimum 1mm flat fan tip nozzle. 5. Clean equipment with Barrettine White Spirit. 6. Ensure wood to be treated is dry, free from dirt and repellent coatings. 7. Recommend using a biocidal wash prior to treatment. 8. Best results – recommend 2-3 applications/coats. 9. Drying times: 12 hours under normal conditions (20°C/65% rel. humidity).

Review: Easy to apply - Easy to apply and used a standard good quality 2 inch woodwork brush to apply. Product poored into a small paint kettle with lid. Used on a new build fence that had discoloured within a year. Result was good. Applied 2 coats and its brought fence back to life showing a natural look and wood knots. I used the clear colour. Some panels were sun exposed so applied an extra coat. Can see the water repellent effective. Delivery was not through Prime so was not next day but product was well packaged. My only advice is order more than you need as it soaks in immediately and you need 4 days without rain forecast to do 2 coats.

It goes on smoothly and the finish looks high quality, giving the wood a nice even coat. It also seems to offer solid protection, which is exactly what I wanted for outdoor timber. I’m impressed enough that I plan to buy more to treat my entire fence. For the price, the value for money is excellent considering the amount you get and the quality of the result. Dries pretty quickly, it came be quite strong fumes so make sure you're in a ventilated area.

Easy to apply and used a standard good quality 2 inch woodwork brush to apply. Product poored into a small paint kettle with lid. Used on a new build fence that had discoloured within a year. Result was good. Applied 2 coats and its brought fence back to life showing a natural look and wood knots. I used the clear colour. Some panels were sun exposed so applied an extra coat. Can see the water repellent effective. Delivery was not through Prime so was not next day but product was well packaged.
