I know extended and excessive kava use can lead to liver or kidney problems but I always thought kava was primarily strained because of the texture. I have tossed n wash kava a few times. You don't get as much benefit from it. I actually really like the taste of the kava brew. I usually brew it the night before for use the next day for heady brews or during the day if its a heavy kava for use that night. I usually add lemon juice to further help extract the Kavalactones and I use very very hot not boiling water. Once its cooled I add manuka honey. The Heady dose I mentioned Seems to help very much with motivation, mood, earthy energy, socialization, stress and muscle pain. Overall feel good. The heavy dose is sedative, gives a good night rest and helps with pain. After you take it for a few nights it's not very good for nighttime. I love heady kava though so. I do not have anxiety or depression so can not say from personal experience but my husband said a heady dose (as I mentioned) significantly helped his anxiety basically taking it away and refreshed him after work. He said he could see how it would help with those suffering with depression. I didn't time my effects but the heady effects seem to last a few hours i will guess estimate somewhere between 3-5hrs for the heady effects before a redose is needed the first few times. Its yellowish and nice and clean. The grind is pretty fine, but it works well in a bag-style strainer. The effects arent my favorite, but i seem to fall asleep easier with this one than i do with my usual brand (which was out of stock) and it seems as potent as any. My main issue is with the nausea. Even the next day, i feel nauseated and its hard to eat without feeling like i might throw up. All kava bothers me some, but the nausea from this one is worse than any other ive had. If nausea isnt a problem for you, i say give it a try.
