These are very good lights for the money vs light output &battery life

*by D***T on Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2017*

When I first purchased this model "( but the automatic on version) several years ago I had read many reviews on different bike lights regard light output, battery life , etc etc and these were very highly rated covering all the bases including price point. I bought this light as a replacement to my auto on version as after several years of almost daily use it seemed to have started to burn through batteries. But, if me buy another a a replacement tells you anything they are good lights, high visibility, many light flash pattern options to balance battery us. I would suggest getting these manual power on versions over the auto on (motion and ambient light) as I found with the auto versions and almost getting hit during the day, you should always have these one and the light and motion sensor can turn it off when you need it...or keep in on using battery (like when you leave the trail and have the lights flashing while going down the road and your bike is on your rack :)

A nice additional light, but needs more mounting options

*by I***F on Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2016*

I like having this as an alternate front light...something to help me be seen at night. This does NOT make a good headlight...it's just not focused enough, but it is a great addition to a headlight. That said, I'd rather have this than nothing at all should my headlight fail.I have replaced my reflectors with this and the tail-light version. I've mounted them semi-permanently. I wrapped a black zip-tie around the bracket where it clips on to prevent theft. The light cannot be removed without first clipping the zip-tie.One star off for the lack of mounting options. The only option included is a bracket to mount to the handle-bars. That option does not work for my bike since the only handlebar space available is taken up by my headlight and bike computer. I need a way to adapt the light to my existing reflector mount, so I am having to rig something up (my first attempt works but needs improvement). In comparison, the tail-light (at half-the-price of the front light!) comes with several mounting options. In fact, part of my solution for the headlight is an unused bracket that came with the tail light. Needless to say, I'm a little disappointed with CatEye for the lack of options. Otherwise I like the light.

Needs a wider diameter, more adaptable mounting bracket

*by B***O on Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2014*

The light's handlebar mounting bracket was not wide enough to fit around my FSA Compact bar. I retrofitted the mount with about an inch longer (and smaller diameter) bolt and secured it with a nut and a couple lock-washers.But, it makes all kinds of blinky!Non-blinking mode is not bright or focused enough to illuminate stuff on the ground in the bikes path, but that's what my Nite-Rider Lumina is for...3-stars for doing what I wanted it to do: blink. If it came with a mount that didn't require modification to fit around a thick handlebar, it would've got 5-stars
