Once he drops the ball (the substitute 3.0in ball), using my foot I can scoop the ball up into the cup of the launcher and voila', "Play Ball"! All in all (my dog's uncooperative stance not withstanding), this has been a great dog toy. It can throw high, it can throw long, it can throw low. I never miss one, I have a perfect score. I won't let my pitcher get it first. I also like that I can just drop it on the ground. Real athletes, like me, keep their eyes on the ball and don't just hand it off. I always know where my ball is, as soon as my pitcher grabs the launcher I am ready for the challenge!!! I love orange and blue and can find this ball even in the roses. My pitcher is handicap and can hardly run or smell or hear at all so this really helps them reach and throw more quickly.
