Review: Solid router with good feature set. - Soid dependable router. Fairly easy to install and configure and has a good selection of features. This is an edge router so you need to configure it directly. It does not connect with the UniFi controllers that Ubiquiti sells. Be warned.
Review: Solid router (with tons of potential) at a great price - I bought this as the first piece of my all Ubiquiti network setup. I wanted to replace my ASUS all in one AC router because of constant restarts and inconsistent wifi performance. It was a good router, but it can't compare to my new system of dedicated router (this), switch, and access point. In the three months I've had my system, there has not been a single issue with internet speeds or connection, or with wifi performance. It is rock solid now and there haven't been any complaints from the family about the internet being down. This router just routes. It isn't encumbered by the need to be the AP as well. I do use the switch function on this however, and it is very configurable, pretty close to a managed switch. It is also capable of passive POE power, which I am not using currently. The SFP port can be configured as the WAN port if you need another port. This is all in a small, well built metal case. The one downside is that it's not the easiest to configure in this current age of consumer routers, but it's still not hard with the wizards and all of the information and support available online. If you are skilled or determined, there is so much configuration this router is capable of. If you get by the initial setup hurdle, the separated router and AP combo is a gamechanger for people like me. The wifi is no longer tied to wherever the router has to be. It can go in the most central or needed location in the house, and you can have more AP's if needed. This is the first step toward non-sucky internet.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this router power uap-ac-pro-us through poe?**
A: Nope, only passive 24v POE is supported. The UAP-AC-PRO is 48v POE I believe. If you are looking to not have the POE injectors you can either get an ERPOE-5 which will do 48v or use the UAP-AC-LR with the ER-X as thise run off of 24v. Real world performance wise the speed difference between the 2 access points is debatable but the added range gained by using the LR version more than makes up for it. Also consider a deployment of several AC-LITE units strategically placed for more uniform coverage. Handoff is smooth and seamless. Dont forget that wifi is a two way street and your mobile devices will never be as powerful as that single access point. Hope this helps.

**Q: Do i *need* to use the sfp port as a wan port? i have cat5e drop from a building managed switch as my internet connection, no isp router.**
A: No, you can use the Ethernet port. Follow the setup guide and select which port(s) to use as Wan, you can have multiple Wans. You must configure the router before putting it on the network or it will not grab a Wan IP.

**Q: Will this device allow you to setup multiple dhcp scopes and let you setup scope options? I'm looking for options 66 and 67 for PXE. Thx.**
A: To answer the question for anyone else who may be needing it. Yes you can create multiple dhcp scopes, similar to my setup here: http://imgur.com/ZvjDO55 For options you will need to go into the CLI, (super easy to use for EdgeOS built off of vynatta), but is fairly straightforward, https://help.ubnt.com/hc/en-us/articles/204960074-EdgeRouter-Define-custom-DHCP-options

**Q: Does it includes the power adapter? (In the Ubiquiti web brochure says it's not)**
A: Yes. There is a power brick in the box.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Router
*by B***R on September 5, 2017*

Not for beginners with little patience. Having used Cisco and FortiNet. All for work. So I have a Linksys LRT2x4 for my house and it just didn't allow enough configuration for my desire. I had several UAPs and just bought a 8 port POE Ubiquiti switch and was very happy with the ease of use and low price for my home setup. Bought this router and found it to be a great little device. Was very easy to update the firmware and get it running. The wizards are easy to use but the syntax is different from others so it took me a little reading to understand what the device wanted to do. Once running, I had my network configured with VLANs for wireless guests and secure network for my home equipment with proper ACL (firewall) settings for access between networks for printers etc. Remote management is not wizard-based (as of this review) and it took a forum search to find the suggested way of enabling it for your setup. Easy to do, once I found the method they want to be used. Throughput is near GB speeds. The router is handling the traffic very well. My Linksys router often had issues or delays while I was accessing my Armcrest NVR. With this router, the load time is noticeably faster and HD video is clear instantly. (no real buffering noticed like from Linksys) If you want to get this router or any Ubiquiti products, I would point you to a YouTube channel, Crosstalk Solutions. He does a very good run down of several products (this router as well) and how they are used/configured. Only weakness (in terms of configuring) I would note is the Remote VPN access. I am surprised a wizard or better configuration page doesn't exist. I'm sure it will come out, but not as of this review. Very impressed. I will buy a couple more to use in my work locations to see if they can handle networks of 100 and 500 stations. However for home use, this is a fantastic buy.
