My stepmother had a knife like this years ago but it had a wooden handle (in two halves around the tang) that fell apart after many years of use. I looked for a long time to find a replacement for her and finally found this one. It is lovely to hold, handle soft and grippy rubber, and that blade is just so thin and sharp I can slice my tomatoes so thin I can see through them. So I got one for myself too, and it's my favorite knife I have. I use it every. Single. Day! It's great! I work in a nursing home kitchen, and all their knives are dull as hell. So I bring my own knives, and NO, my coworkers do NOT get to borrow them! They stay locked up unless I'm using them, because those dingbats will dull the poo out of a knife in no time flat.

I purchased this knife with the primary need of slicing and cutting tomatoes. My preference is a small, thin-bladed knife. Something that will allow very good control of slicing and cutting. This knife fits that bill nicely. I have included the picture of it next to a $ bill for size comparison. It is well balanced and very sharp. The handle is a hard rubber, soft enough to press your fingernail into and it grips to your skin for non-slip cutting better than a wood handled knife. It also makes washing it very easy. It is labeled Make in the USA, which is a plus. The blade itself is thin, not quite 2mm thick, which in my opinion allows easier cutting of large items. You can easily slice a tomato into 1/8" slices should one desire. It has been a joy to use on broccoli, potatoes, carrots, cauliflower and many other vegetables. I would purchase this item again.
