    Cadillac price for Yugo performance

I have a 24 volt system with 960 watts of solar panels with about 400 amp-hours of batteries, and I ran a cheap 400 watt inverter for about 4 years before I decided to upgrade. This AIMS unit seemed decent, so I took a chance: big mistake.I was a little suspicious that the manual and the labels on the unit itself seemed poorly translated into English (from Korean, I assume, since it's made in Korea), but I hooked it up and it ran fine for about 6 weeks. I came home one day to find it off: no lights on, no noises, nothing. I unhooked it and put the old cheap 400 watt inverter back in: it ran fine. To test it, I took the AIMS unit outside and wired it directly to two freshly charged car batteries, confirmed with a meter that it was receiving about 27 volts, and turned it on. Now, the green power light came on, but it put out 0 volts (again, confirmed with a meter). I called technical support to ask if I could test anything aside from pressing the button on the GFCI and flipping the breaker; they said no, and told me to return it to them at my cost ($40 to ship it from Maine to Nevada). The unit comes with a little bag of spare fuses, but the manual doesn't explain how to replace them; technical support told me that I'd have to open the unit, which would void the warranty (also not mentioned in the manual: I'm glad I didn't try it). Now, AIMS claims that the unit works fine, and that I have to pay to get it back. They emailed me that "The unit when disconnected from everything, it can reset", whatever that means, and when I called technical support for details they claimed that they pressed the button on the GFCI and now it works. Now, I'm no electrician, but I am ASE certified for automotive electrical, I can tell red from black, and I know how to press the button: I say I pressed it before I returned the unit, they say I didn't, so I guess we'll just both call each other liars. Also, the cell phone booster which was the only thing plugged into it when it failed shouldn't trip the GFCI, and the 400 watt inverter has no problem running it.So what can I do? Pay $40 more dollars to get it back, and maybe it works for 6 more weeks, maybe it doesn't work at all. In the meantime, my generic 400 watt inverter is still humming along. I figured that an inverter that costs this much will work, and that I'd get some decent customer service and knowledgeable technical support; I guess I was wrong.UPDATE: In the few weeks since AIMS promised me that there is nothing wrong with the inverter and shipped it back to me (at my expense), it has twice shut off for no reason. Luckily I was home both times, and turning the switch off and then back on "fixed" it. Since I bought a freezer that I run off of it, though, I guess I will be throwing away this inverter and buying one from a real company. If I can't depend on it, it's useless to me, and there's no point in shipping it to AIMS customer service again.UPDATE 2, October 3rd, 2016: The inverter that they returned to me continued to shut off for no reason. AIMS tech support is useless and knows nothing about the product they sell and claim to manufacture. After filing a Better Business Bureau complaint and arguing with AIMS for months, they finally shipped me a new one (at their expense),I shipped the bad one back to them (at their expense), and they refunded me the $40 they charged me to ship the first broken inverter back to me. I've had the new inverter for 3 days and it seems to be working, but so did the last one... We all make mistakes, and every company will ship a bad product once in a while. Everyone at AIMS is polite, but no one knows anything, and they consistently refused to admit that the inverter was bad. "We don't know what the problem is" is not the same as "there is no problem". I wouldn't even consider buying another product from them.UPDATE 3, September 2018: The replacement inverter AIMS sent me is now about 2 years old, and refuses to run a 13 amp (1,430 watt) circular saw on a sunny day with full batteries. The saw doesn't trip a 15 amp breaker, and works fine at my cousin's house, so it isn't a fault with the saw. Maybe this was once a 3,000 watt continuous/6,000 watt peak inverter, but it isn't now. Sure, real inverter brands cost more, but consider that at least one major brand comes with a 3 year warranty (5 year if it's installed with their other components).

Does exactly what it's designed to do. Have this thing hooked up to the breaker box. It powers the whole house.

Great product, you pay for what you get!

I have run this on my 2) 160W solar panels = 320W, 24V system. I have the Coleman air c440-hva 10,000W controller, with 10) 50ah = 500ah Bats, which of this I can savly use down to 70% or 350ah or to 24.6v, NO less as some site/forums/blog tell you that 50% is fine, but don't go past this, IMHO. That being said, for almost a month now I have used this inverter and I'm VERY happy with it! Getting up with Aims Tech Support wasn't easy, but once I did I was good to go.When I first started her up she has a light hissing or noice, very very slight and Aims states this is normal as their are resisters inside (I think thats what they are) that do need charging, it does go away, but again, cant hardly even hear it.Per my pics, I have one leg going into my kitchen that is hard wired, to a GFI plug, and another plug off the GFI on the inverter going to a normal outlet. If you put an plug going from the GFI inverter outlet to another GFI they will trip as I was told by Aims.I'm able to run my side-by-side fridge which I tested on a volt/watt plug meter at peak times 1000wats, idle only 134wats, some lights with the energy saving 10w = 60w, my entertainment system about 200w, fan about 70wats and this inverter runs smooth with the fan only coming on every once in a couple hrs.So far I'm VERY happy. This is my 5th inverter RIP to the rest of them as this one is holding up great! I will make updates as I go.FYI, I'm going to create a video on my whole system and my site too, Solar Service Guy dot com in the near future.ThanksBill
