It is made from masonite so there were several cracks already and then adding the screw made the cracks grow. there were some imperfections in the holes where you add the dowels too. My husband had to fill the rest of the holes In with wood glue. I thought about returning it but it would be too much of a hassle to box it up again and send it off. It seems sturdy and well made - the lavender is a nice finish (nicer/smoother than other kid furniture!). If it were a few inches longer to hold a few more dresses, it would be perfect. We can still fit several dresses as-is, shoes underneath them, miscellaneous accessories in a bin we placed on top, and some capes hang from the hooks on the side.
