It's a bit larger than I expected but it comes with a desk clamp in addition to a very sturdy weighted base but you want to make sure you secure it in addition to the smooth plastic surfaces that contact the desk - When I adjusted the rotation of the lamp stem, the clamp twisted right off the table. No biggie. I recommend it.

**Q: Does the head rotate?**
A: Yes it does. If you do not need concentrated or direct light as is usually required for a project, you could rotate the head so the light reflects off a wall or to brighten a room like a desk lamp

**Q: My lamp came without holes or screws to attach the shade. Is there a quick fix for this?**
A: there is a ring screwed onto the bulb socket. Unscrew it, slide the shade on, and replace the ring.

**Q: What size is the base, how long is each of the arms, the one attached to the base and the top arm?  Why can't sellers include this information?**
A: Base diameter is  about 9.25 inches. Each arm is about 15 inches (depending on where exactly you measure). Do you need a more eact number?

Great, sturdy feeling lamp! I think we got a return or a QA failure though. The little ring you have to remove to install the lamp was completely screwed down out of reach and not in the threading of what it was supposed to screw off. We spent a good 45 minutes removing it using a series of tools to get it figured out. It really seems like someone forced it all the way down. Once assembled, it's great!
