But these are Turkish, so I think maybe this is the kind of thing that each family that is familiar with these probably has their own recipe and way of jazzing them up. Whil I enjoy trying new things, my personal taste may differ wildly from someone who’s grown up with traditional foods like these. That said, these cookies arrived half-smashed and very hard. It was hard to tell from the pictures but never having had them before I assumed they were soft. Definitely not. Also not a “pastry” in my opinion. Texture is that of a dry crumbly graham cracker/cookie. The flavor is slightly sweet but mostly very bland by American standards where everything is extremely sugar-heavy. They’re not gluten free fyi, if that’s important to you. These are definitely better soaked in a sugar syrup(not included) but weren’t my cup of tea nonetheless.
