Review: Great paper, horrible packing by desertcart - If all you’ve ever known is American copier paper, this will be a breath of fresh air. … As long as you don’t mind paying for it. Ever so slightly thinner than normal copier paper (0.09 mm vs 0.1 mm) but much smoother. Has a wonderful feel to it. I bought it because I love Japanese notebooks, and wanted to have the same handling experience when I printed stuff on my laser printer. This is pretty close. It’s not quite Maruman or the other premium notebook papers, but it’s very smooth and feels decidedly Japanese. However, compared to normal American copier paper, even so-called premium laser paper (which means heavier and brighter), it’s just sublime. It will arrive ripped open inside the desertcart package, as others have noted. I don’t know why desertcart can’t fix this. Only a couple of my sheets were wrinkled though. Update: the workaround for shoddy packaging is to order *two* reams. Too big and heavy for a paper bag, so they’ll come in a box. These arrived in perfect shape (see pic), in contrast to the single ream I ordered.

**Q: Has anyone tried watercolor on this paper? Does it hold up as well to it as Tomoe River?**
A: I bought this paper mainly because it handles fountain ink extremely well and is still fairly light weight without costing as much as Tomoe River. I still prefer the smoothness of TR but this paper is my second choice.
When I saw this question I pulled out a sheet and tried watercolor.  I was amazed at how well it can handle it. Colors blend well and I used a lot of watercolor to see if the paper could take it and it did. I got absolutely no bled through to the other side which I sometimes get in Tomoe River paper. The crinkles don’t feel the same as Tomoe River but I’m sure the weight of this paper is part of the reason for that.

**Q: Is this real a4 size or fake a4 size? (real a4 size is 210 × 297 millimeters or 8.27 × 11.69 inches)**
A: 210*297

**Q: Reviews say it's not as good as tomoe river. but will it still give nice sheen and shading? i'd like affordable fp paper that still highlights shading**
A: It's much heavier than Tomoe River, and not as smooth. The sheening is great (OS Walden Pond). It's absorbent enough that the shading is only adequate (Diamine Autumn Oak). Because it's heavier than Tomoe River there is much less ghosting (almost none) and no bleed-through at all. Come over to the Goulet Nation Facebook Group, ask the same questions and I can show you photos. The only thing I would recommend more is if you can find a reasonably priced 32 lb (120 gsm) laser printer paper.

**Q: Some say this is is very smooth paper and some say it's rough. Which is correct?**
A: I wouldn’t call it rough by any means. I wouldn’t call it especially smooth, but I’d say it is as smooth as conventional copy paper (albeit higher quality).

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect for Planners and Fountain Pens

I bought this since I was tired of cutting down letter sized paper to fit into my A5 six ring-bound planner. This paper does not have the holes punched in, so as long as you have the special six ring hole puncher, you should be good! I originally was concerned with how thin the paper is, and was wondering how well it would hold up to the medium sized nib fountain pens I regularly use in my journaling/planning. This holds up very well! It's definitely got some ghosting onto the other side, as this is very thin paper, but it has no feathering and holds the fountain pen ink very well. When I print on it using my inkjet printer (Canon Pixma), the printed parts have ghosting on the other side. I've tested it using my Sailor gold nibs, Pilot, Kaweco, Platinum, TWSBI, and Ferris Wheel Press fountain pens with my Diamine, Robert Oster, Sailor, Iroshizuku inks. IMO ghosting adds character to my note taking/journaling/planning, but this could be a deal-breaker for many! I do have to note that the paper is an off-white color. I was previously using a 32 lb weight printer paper for fountain pens that was this bright white color so I noticed the stark color difference of this pack. This doesn't bother me, but it may be an important point for others when considering their choices. Overall I'm super happy with this purchase. I organize a lot of my life into my planner so this paper will be well loved and used a LOT :)
