The fan in it has a noise level, which gets louder depending on the 3 settings, but I use it to drown out sounds when my husband gets up earlier than I do. The purifier also has an ionizer button that emits a blue light to kill air pollutants and germs. Every once in a while I use the blue light, but the light is bright, so I use it during the day occasionally. The filters last a long time, are well made, easy to change out, and the purifier is very well made and is about 5 years old now. I highly recommend keeping filters on hand if you own one of these air purifiers.
