The Monitor comes with an thunderbolt double male cable. I've using this cable to connect thunderbolt to thunderbolt. It works great and the thunderbolt also powers the MacBook. This plus the monitor has 2 thunderbolt and 3 usb-c ports means it basically acts like a dock. I have used the monitor to daisy-chain a second monitor. **Q: where is the power switch?** A: There isn't one. The monitor is supposed to come on automatically when plugged into the computer. But it has to be the right computer. As in only specific Apple products.
