Is for my wife's couch gaming pc which runs a 5800x3d and 7900xt. As a matx board it only has two ram slots and the 16gb was one half from a previously purchased 4 stick 32gb kit. To upgrade I had no choice but to find a dual stick kit with this capacity; I could have gone generic and slower (3200 CL 20) but the board officially supports this kit and the sweet spot is universally 3600 CL18 for AM4. I went with the branded Corsair to ensure it's no nonsense as I don't get to run too much maintenance for her and I'm hoping that they will still honour the warranty despite the current situation if anything does go wrong (something I don't see less known far east brands doing). Anyway, I dropped this in, got a bios warning of the hardware change, a few clicks and I was posting back into desktop with the rated 3600 speed and timings. Detected fine via HWinfo64 and no noticeable issues from initial tests; this wasn't expected to be a huge upgrade (it's just to ensure I can eek life out the machine) so my improvement was minor with better frame times and load times. Major downside is the blatantly obvious: the price. Yep this is way, way more than what I paid several years ago for a 4 stick kit, I think that cost around £140 at the time which I thought was pricey but was effectively brand tax. This kit is now close to £300 and none of it is brand tax it's AI tax. Not as bad as DDR5 prices and I was lucky enough to rebuild to AM5 before Ramaggedon but it still hurts when you know what the increase in price is just empty inflation. Overall I'm happy though. This will probably be an end of any upgrades for her pc (it plays indie titles and the odd AAA and is better than some people's main rigs).
