Just study the printed instructions for a few minutes and you'll get it. I can't read a schematic for beans, but found all this to be quite easy to understand. (Main thing to know: the black line in the illustration is your black 120v wire, and the light grey line is your white 120v wire.) Just follow the diagram.I've installed six of these in three fixtures and am so glad I did. A little work on the ladder now means I won't be up on that ladder replacing bulbs again for many years to come.These bulbs turn on instantly, first time, every time and they have a very pleasing color temperature: a warmer color closer to a traditional tungsten light bulb, not the harsh, brilliant "sunlight" white of similar products. (The color temperature is indicated as a "K" value. These are 4000-4500K. Anything higher than that is getting too brilliant white for my taste.) They produce tons of light without making me feel like I'm in an operating room. The light just doesn't have that artificial glare to it.I am now keeping at least four of these on the shelf to convert one fixture at a time as either the old flourescent bulbs go or the ballast does.WHY RE-WIRING IS BETTER (BECAUSE YOU GET RID OF THE BALLAST)The ballast is a transformer about the size of a hot dog bun that changes the voltage to support flourescent bulbs. But, like flourescent bulbs, the ballast doesn't last forever. If the ballast goes, you can put in as many new bulbs as you want and your light still won't work.I finally converted my fixtures because I noticed the bulbs weren't lasting more than six months, some as little as one month. Bad ballast. So, up and down the ladder and many trips to Home Depot to buy those annoying flourescent bulbs (which you really should recycle due to the mercury in them). After I got tired of that, I couldn't wait to say bye-bye to the whole technology. Which is why these LED bulbs were invented. I will keep converting, one by one, any time a bulb or ballast goes. (It's actually kind of fun.)But you'll find an LED product similar to this that does NOT require you to remove the ballast. Easier, yes. Better? Definitely not. When that ballast goes, you're back to the same problem. Even when you have a working ballast, it's wasting electricity by having to convert to a different voltage. Plus, they hum. So that's three good reasons to ditch the ballast and go with this kind of LED bulb. Reason #4: The LEDs that work with a ballast are also considerably more expensive. Glad I was not tempted by the little bit of convenience they offer.The nieLite LED bulbs are packaged in several layers of protection for shipping, and all the ones I've installed work great. And they come with warning labels to put on your fixture alerting people not to use flourescents any more in that fixture. (However, I thought the labels were too small, so I printed up big, red warnings that I taped inside the reflector of each fixture. There is now no chance of a future mistake.)Basically, when you make the switch you are getting a near-permanent bulb that is much more energy efficient, reliable, quiet, and pleasant than your old flourescents you've spent all that money on over the years.Go ahead -- make the switch. If you're still afraid, it's still worth it to call in an electrician to do it. Once you get the hang of it, each one takes about ten minutes, so the bill won't be too high. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Very bright, should last a long time *by M***K on Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2018* There is some modification required to the existing light fixture, but this is very easy to do. There may be other options available at box stores that do not require this modification. These lights are bright. The price on Amazon is slightly higher than box store prices, but not by much. May pay for you to shop around, but there is nothing wrong with these lights. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Bright replacement lamp, *by Z***Y on Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2017* I bought 2 of these. At first I thought the price was a bit steep but the reviews all said they were better packed than many competing units and they also had more lumens of output. I was not disappointed. I have never seen lamps so well packed. You could have driven a truck over them and not hurt them. Each lamp packed inside a 4 ft PVC pipe with sealed on ends. Good instructions for modding the lamp housing to remove ballast from circuit and provide 120-240vac across the tubes. These are automatic multivoltage so work equally well on 120vac (USA) and 240vac (Europe/Asia) circuits. They are also awesomely bright. They appear at least twice as bright as the 32 Watt T12 fluorescent lamps they replaced. They start virtually instantly as well.
