I work for a corporation so I can not have jewelry showing at work, also I did not have 4-8 weeks to take off to allow surgical steel studs to remain in while healing. I used a 14 gauge needle along with a pair of these. I have had the same pair in now for over 2 weeks using a saline solution to clean them twice a day. They are very comfortable, hard to see and they have been healing perfectly. The puncture wound has not stuck to the material at all. I will continue to use them as retainers after they are healed. I highly recommend for this purpose. Review: Work fine - They were just fine. The O rings slide off every now and again, but other then that. Comfortable fit however if you use these for lip ring studs be prepared to easy several of these like I did lol.
