They switched to wheat dextrin from the guar gum they used to use, in order to boost fiber content, wheat dextrin is a soluble fiber extracted from wheat starch, benefiber helps reduce cholesterol,reduces risk of heart disease, and type 2 diabetes. It contains 20ppm,(parts per million) gluten,and so is considered gluten free, if you have problems with gluten, they recommend you do not use it. There is no evidence that wheat gluten is harmful. I personally take benefiber every day, and would not be without it, but, everyone is different. If you are worried that it may interact with any meds you take, you can go to Drugs.com to check.
