It uses real-time sky recognition to guide users effortlessly to celestial objects via an intuitive app. Lightweight and portable with a manual altazimuth mount, it offers bright, detailed views of planets, nebulae, and galaxies. Included accessories and a 2-year warranty make it a reliable choice for millennial professionals seeking an engaging, tech-savvy stargazing experience. ## Description Celestron’s StarSense Explorer LT 114AZ is the first telescope that uses your smartphone to analyze the night sky and calculate its position in real time, making stargazing easier than ever. Perfect for beginners, this app-enabled telescope lets you dock your phone, launch the app, and follow on-screen arrows to planets, stars, galaxies, and more. Unlike other astronomy apps that rely solely on gyroscopes, StarSense uses patented sky recognition technology and a Lost in Space Algorithm (LISA)—like the sophisticated location systems used by satellites—to deliver accurate, real-time guidance. Simply align your phone with the telescope optics, and within minutes, you’ll be exploring with confidence. The app automatically generates a list of the best objects to view based on your exact time and location. Choose one and navigate there by following the on-screen arrows. When the bullseye turns green, your target is ready in the eyepiece. The high-quality 114mm Newtonian reflector with highly reflective coatings provides bright, detailed views of the Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, and deep-sky favorites like the Orion Nebula and Andromeda Galaxy. Includes two eyepieces (10mm and 25mm), a red dot finderscope, a full-height tripod, and a StarSense smartphone dock. StarSense Explorer works with most modern smartphones; it is compatible with Android 12 and later, as well as iOS 18 and newer, including iPhone XR and newer models. ## Features - SMARTPHONE-POWERED SKY TOUR: No experience needed! Just dock your phone, launch the StarSense Explorer app, and follow the on-screen arrows to locate stars, planets, nebulae, and more. - PATENTED STARSENSE TECHNOLOGY: Unlike other astronomy apps, StarSense Explorer uses sky recognition technology to turn your phone into a celestial navigation system, analyzing star patterns overhead to pinpoint your telescope’s position. - TONIGHT’S BEST TARGETS, INSTANTLY: The app generates a curated list of the top objects to see based on your time and location. See planets, bright nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters from the city—and even more from dark skies. - SIMPLE SETUP, SMOOTH TRACKING: Features a manual altazimuth mount with altitude slow motion adjustment with a sliding rod. Follow the on-screen arrows to your target; when the bullseye turns green, you can view it clearly through the eyepiece. - 114MM REFLECTOR WITH IMPRESSIVE VIEWS: The 4.5" Newtonian reflector with high-reflectivity coatings delivers sharp, vivid views of the Moon, planets like Jupiter and Saturn, and deep-sky favorites like the Orion Nebula and Andromeda Galaxy. - UNBEATABLE WARRANTY & SUPPORT: Buy with confidence from Celestron, a leading telescope brand in California since 1960. Although no color or bands. I can see 3 of it's 4 moons. It's good to get with others and I've found lots of info on cloudynights dot com. Although, it depends so much on so many things, like light-pollution, atmospheric conditions not just of Earth, but of other planets. Most folks recommend reading, reading and more reading on the skies so that first, we know where things are, things we are likely to be able to see. Don't give up, the more you learn by doing, the more things you will see. My opinion is the Starsense 130 DX AZ is a good beginner telescope, but it really hasn't given me more than I got with another that was 179.00. I love the app though, it is fun, but I also realize I need to make adjustments and learn more about eyepieces, the best places to view from etc. Star Parties, I pray we get past this Covid thing so we can really gather again and learn, in person, with others. **Q: Can I take pictures with this telescope?** A: It is indeed possible to take pictures with this telescope, but you will need a second phone or camera and an adapter for either smartphones or your camera. The camera that attaches to the dock and uses the StarSense Explorer App is not looking through the telescope at all. **Q: Does cellphone app work offline?** A: Yes, you need cell or wifi to download the app but after that it has a calibration that you perform to find position. They were smart enough to make sure that you could enjoy the scope and app while standing in a field in the middle of nowhere. **Q: Are you able to use the code that comes with the telescope for the app on more than one phone?** A: The code is good for five phones ## Frequently Bought Together - Celestron 22452 StarSense Explore LT114AZ Newtonian Reflector Telescope with Smartphone App-Enabled Technology - Includes Two Eyepieces, 2X Barlow Lens, Phone Dock and Height-Adjustable Tripod, Black - National Geographic Backyard Guide to the Night Sky, 2nd Edition (National Geographic Backyard Guides) - 50 Things To See With A Telescope - Kids: A Constellation Focused Approach --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.us/products/180635805-celestron-starsense-explorer-lt-114az-newtonian-smartphone-guided-telescope](https://www.desertcart.us/products/180635805-celestron-starsense-explorer-lt-114az-newtonian-smartphone-guided-telescope) --- *Product available on Desertcart United States of America* *Store origin: US* *Last updated: 2026-10-14*
