The best way to tell would be to look in a crystal book that shows pictures. **Q: Why are my rocks huge and mostly brown and grey?** A: Because they are mostly base matrix rock and not much tiger eye. I threw my batch out because they were garbage. They should be ashamed trying to sell it as bulk tiger eye. **Q: Can they be crushed and used for inlays?** A: Yes! There weren't a bunch of tiny flakes of stones , all the stones were a good quality and a good size. I can't wait to tumble them. I just ordered three more pounds of their raw stones.UU UNIHOM brand is impressive. The 1-pound package was all useable stones for tumbling, and won't disappear in the process. I highly recommend UU UNIHOM.Also, they give you a small bag of very pretty polished rose quartz, called Lucky Stones, about 1/2 inch, as a thank you for you order. You are getting what you pay for: uncut and unpolished large amethyst rocks. I had hoped they would be closer to the 1 inch range, but they are much larger than that. If you read the description it says they may be up to 2.5 inch and that their photos are taken after cleaning. I don't think they are being deceptive here, but I do wish I had read more carefully.
