Lost in America is set in a near-future America I can easily relate to, with characters I can easily connect with. 18-year-old Laura, the narrator, survives a car crash that kills her boyfriend, to discover upon waking from a coma that she's been saying things that attract the attention not only of the hospital staff but of the police as well. As a reward for her mysterious comatose information, she even receives the latest model of the butler, a personal assistance device on the order of a smart watch. Butlers, though, know everything about their owners, and help out with everything from wardrobe choices to information about other people. There's a darker side to a butler, too, in its mysterious connection somehow to an as-yet unnamed bad guy and his imminent plans for a move-over-Pol Pot-I'll-show-you-a-real-genocide genocide. Laura stands in his way, and must flee. Which she does at the end of Episode 3, intending to get lost in America. Hence the title, of course.So far, so good Laura Fitzgerald. Let's see what the next episodes bring. You've set the bar kind of high for yourself. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Page turner *by E***N on June 20, 2015* I just finished the first three episodes of Lost In America and I am anxiously awaiting the next installment. Like any good adventure, the story line and characters are totally believable and the reader becomes emotionally involved in their welfare. This is a book that I can share with my daughter and it will create, I hope, a opportunity for discussions about relationships, politics and the concept of what should be private. The author does such a great job creating the scenes that I imagine the book as though a movie were playing in my head. Keep up the good work with this story Ms. Fitzgerald. It grabbed my attention immediately and kept me wanting more until the end. It's easy to relate to the character and really brings into perspective how much technology and privacy intersect and the dangers it can pose. If you are looking for a fast moving book that will keep you wanting to know what happens next then this is for you.
