I am interested in the 8" x 8" ones.** A: The 8x8" wood canvas is 1.5" deep. **Q: What are the opening dimensions if used in reverse?** A: About 6 3/4" or 7/8"... I purchased these specifically to make shadow boxes. I find this size to be just right. I hope this helps **Q: What is the thickness of the sides and face panel? I want to make clocks with them.** A: I'm not exactly sure if this is what you mean, but the thickness of the panels is about 1/2" and the depth is 1 1/2". I hope that helps **Q: Can these be hung backwards? More like a shadowbox?** A: Yes, but keep in mind the depth is 1 1/2", use a command hanging strip to hang on the wall. I love those hangers.
