My grand daughter has a very wide foot.** A: No, do not run wide. The are true to size - standard. However, they are made to stretch and flex. The rubber around the foot has to be tight, to stay on while swimming. My son will be 5 in a few days. He just updated his sneaker size to Nike 12C (12 children). The XXS Finis fins are too small, but just barely. He'd be much better suited for the XS size. He has high arches and ridiculously wide feet. **Q: Why do these come covered in slimy stuff?** A: That will come off once you use it the first time or you can wash them off with some liquid detergent.
