This was generally speaking its sole purpose so, for that I am grateful.The only issue experienced was receiving my first product DOA, however the company assures me that this is likely due to Amazon warehousing or another "crunch" in transit. I have since received a replacement since then from the seller, in-tact, and am much happier having spent the 20 dollars now. They were very, very fast about replacing the item and did not give me any extra-trouble doing so. That being said, this cooler is very light and very..."dainty" in my opinion. This is not a bad thing at all as it is extremely lightweight and holds my laptop just fine.Summary: Great, and efficient cooler if you are careful and easy enough on your products. I don't think this thing would survive a 12 year old boy slamming a laptop down on top of it too many times, but then again if it did it would be heavy and probably more than 20 bucks. It gets really hot when using the built-in ATI graphics card, and gets extremely uncomfortable. This cooling pad keeps everything to a nice comfortable temperature so I can keep working and/or playing while sitting as comfortably as I want to. It also seems to help keep the laptop from cranking up its super noisy internal fan during extended video usage.ONE THING YOU SHOULD KNOW:It is NOT very large. My laptop is a 13.3" display, and the laptop is just a bit larger than that. This pad just barely fits beyond the edges of the laptop, which is what I was looking for. I don't want a huge amount of space sticking out from around the edges. Basically, if your laptop is not relatively small, then you might want to look for a larger cooler, which this company makes.It has an adjustable knob on the side of the cooler which allows you to turn the fan speed (and LED light intensity) up or down. Even at full speed, the fans are not very noisy. They are audible, but just a gentle hum, not very noisy at all. I don't really even here them in the main part of my house with the TV on in the background. Maybe if I were in a super quiet room it would be much more noticeably, but I don't mind the sound at all.There are two types of feet that fold out. One of them is a smaller foot for just a slight elevation on a solid surface, and the other feet are quite long, so they work even on my soft bed to make sure air can get underneath. That said however, I am pretty impressed with how nice this is for the money. Based on some reviews, it looks like it may be a crap-shoot as far as getting a good one, or getting a lemon. Mine is very quiet, more like "white noise" in the background (about as loud as a DVR or flatscreen TV fan), both fans work smoothly, the metal grill feels solid, the lights are not obnoxiously bright (they are 100% covered by the laptop anyhow, so they are not exactly visible), and it's the perfect size for my HP Pavilion DV6 15.6" laptop. It's almost exactly the same footprint, with no overhang. Time will tell, but this seems like a solid deal. I'll be very happy if it still works in Nov 2016. I'd recommend it. I've spent more $$ on dumber things ....** UPDATED 04-15-2016 - Downgraded to 2.5 stars ... Well, it was great while it lasted ! It finally stopped working as of today, exactly 5 months after I got it. It had been acting up over the past few weeks, the fans occasionally cutting out, and lately it would only stay running if you jiggled the cord and positioned it at just the right angle. When it was working though, it kept the laptop at a decent 88-95 degree temp. I may gamble another 20 bucks and buy another one, or just try a different brand.
