Review: Great Product!!! - When I received the Ocean's Balance Seaweed, it appeared to have mold on the leaves looking through the bag, which I was a bit disappointed. When I opened the bag up, I realized that the powdery substance was salt deposits from the seaweed. I felt so bad thinking it was mold that I wanted to write a review just to let others know it was salt and this product is very good! I added the seaweed to a pot of soup I made and it was delicious!

When I received the Ocean's Balance Seaweed, it appeared to have mold on the leaves looking through the bag, which I was a bit disappointed. When I opened the bag up, I realized that the powdery substance was salt deposits from the seaweed. I eat Miso Soup pretty much everyday and wanted to buy a more locally sourced seaweed. I remember watching a 60 Minutes report on Maine seaweed business and decided to look for these products on Amazon. The "white" on the product is salt and this is mentioned right on the bag. I'm addressing this because of other reviews. I bought one bag and made the mistake of buying whole leaf when the flakes would have been fine. Still usable, but I have to cut it. I'm now going to buy more products to include the Wakame and Dulse.
