This filter media specifically has worked wonders on my 40g tank. It completely eliminates color/cloudiness in the water and even stops algae blooms in my tank.

My new tank started smelling like absolute egg fart. I legit thought we had a gas leak in the house until I realized it was coming from the tank. It was also a little cloudy. The bag was WAY too big for the filter so I sat it in the corner of the tank for maybe 2 weeks- and it made the tank CRYSTAL clear and NO SMELL! 5/5!!! I will buy another to have on hand!

I have a large piece of wood in my 10 gallon tank and I've been dealing with brown, tea-like water for a long while. I found this product to be a helpful way of removing tannins. I left it in my tank for a day near my airstone, and seems to have cleared up the tannins really well! I definitely see an improvement from last night.I wish API would release a smaller version of this. It's advertised that it can fit in most HOB filters, but not the simple aqueon filter my aquarium came with. That's alright though, a single binder clip did the job!4 stars because its clunky and hard to really put anywhere due to its size.

I had a nitrate spike of 160+ for at least a week, despite 0 ammonia and nitrites. I couldn't bring nitrates down at all even with 90% water change over a few days. This stuff isn't stocked in stores so I bought and cut up nitrate absorbing filter pads but they did nothing. My neocaridina are berried for the first time and I was so afraid the shrimplets would hatch and not survive! This NitraZorb arrived at night and I stuck it in a canister filter right away. By the next morning the nitrates we're cut in half, and at the 24 hour mark were down to somewhere between 20-40!! Now, 36 hours later, it's between 10-20. Although I had only rinsed it lightly in the sink, there was no cloudiness. I did put it on top of a polishing filter in the canister, so perhaps that trapped any particles. I can't recommend this enough for anyone having a nitrate spike! I won't be adding this as a permanent filter because I'm afraid it would kill off all the nitrifying bacteria by removing all the ammonia. But I only use the canister to vacuum the gravel, so will probably run it over night with the NitraZorb every time I do a gravel vac (which clearly hasn't been frequently enough lately!)

I bought this to remove tannins from my tank from driftwood. The water has been tea colored for a month and the regular filter and water changes did nothing.This filter was way too big for my 5 gallon tank. I rinsed it for a long time and decided to set it on top of my filter so the water could just pour over it. The tank water quickly turned black. I panicked and did a 20% water change. My fish seemed to be doing okay, but I still removed it. I cut a hole in it, removed 70% of the carbon, and clamped it back up . I put the smaller bag back after rinsing it 50 times or so.I was nervous about my fish, but I was shocked at the results. Within an hour the water started clearing, and 12 hours later it is crystal clear. Just wow.Moral of the story, make sure this is the right size for your tank and adjust if you need to. Rinse for a long time! It says it doesnt need to rinse clear but rinse as close as you can to clear, it will take a ton of rinsing to get there.I'm honestly amazed at how quickly this totally changed my tank. I wish I had done it sooner! Rinse it well!

The media could not be loaded. During the treatment to cure a fish disease, the aquarium became a disaster, the entire surface of the water covered with a dense, foul-smelling foam and the entire water a dark brown color. I used this product together with activated carbon and the result was wonderfully good, in just 4 hours after changing 40% of the water, the water was already clean. In the attached video you can see the cleanliness of the water and a certain whiteness caused by the treatment that I started with another medication.I can attest that, in my case, this product was magical. It's worth giving it a try.
