You can then go over it with the carpet cleaning machine which should contain the deep cleaning formula. **Q: How does this differ from Bissell Stain Pretreat for Carpet & Upholstery? If they are redundant, which works better?** A: I don't think the OXYgen Boost is meant to be a pretreat. It's meant to be used in conjunction with the BISSELL 2X Pet Stain & Odor Portable Machine Formula to better remove stains. I'm still on the fence about the OXYgen Boost and don't always use it. I've never used the Pretreat so I honestly can't say. **Q: does this have fragrance or scent?** A: No fragrance to speak of **Q: Can this be used as the solution to clean carpets using Bissel carpet cleaner? What does 'pretreater' as mentioned in description mean?** A: I can't tell you what the pretreater means.
