Bottom line is 45 minutes later and a pile of plastic these grips fit perfectly and look great. Function: The included hardware is functional and easy to install, the grips are not any wider than the set of hogue wrap around grips I took off to install them (they may feel "wider" to people who use panel grips as any wrap around grip does. I was going to stiple the grips when I got them but there is no need the raised grip texture is pretty effective. Feels good in the hand and the rail works perfectly. I have a laser/light combo on there fits perfect the gun does not feel significantly heavier than before even with the light/laser on it. I purchased this product hoping it would provide exactly what it's intended to provide. Unfortunately, the Para Ordinance ' s grip frame is a little beveled. Thus, the new grips would not fit evenly. I intend to sell it some how. Anyways, to answer your question- the product is a composite plastic material. It's hard and only fits the 1911 if the aforementioned handle is not beveled. It requires the original screw holes in the grip as well as where the Weaver rail is located. Your hogue grip would have to be removed then replaced on top of this product. However, having several Hogue grips myself, I am unsure if the added thickness this product features would prevent the custom made Hogue from fitting properly or not. I hope I answered your question in so many words. I wish there was an agent available to answer my questions before I bought it because it does not, indeed, fit "all 1911s and clones."
