The gloves do not protect against cold temperatures. As to the durability of the glove surfaces, I have not noticed deterioration. **Q: I normally wear an xl glove, but the measurements on the size chart say i should go with a medium. how do these fit?** A: when I bought my size a Lg when i got then I thought they were a little tight , so I also bought a pair of xlg what I found after this last snow storm snow blowing I tried the XLG and i find they were cold , that's because there are air pockets then put on the Large size no air pockets worked perfect not super warm but comfortable compared to the XLG that got cold too large stick with my correct size the large!! conclusion get the size that fits correctly . Great do not get wet!! **Q: Would these gloves be good for cleaning wet leaves out of the gutter?** A: They'd be more than good. Used these for my construction job everyday. On really cold days in an open structure, we'd heat a metal rod with a Blowtorch until it glowed, then grab on tight with both hands for warmth.
