This diary of Saint Maria Fuastina Kowalska is a masterpiece in literature; not for the sake of the writing, but the content. She was told by her confessor to write a diary of everything that was happening in her life, even speaking with Jesus and His blessed mother. She was ill for most of the time she wrote and didn't want to write, but she obeyed her superiors and kept this diary of her thoughts and conversations she had with our Lord and Savior. Jesus appeared to her many times and on one occasion, told her to have a portrait painted just as He appeared to her and have the words "Jesus, I trust in you" engraved at the bottom. Jesus commanded Sister Faustina to spread the devotion to His divine mercy; even reciting to her the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for her and to have it known throughout the world.
