I do have to adjust them once in a while, but that is to be expected. I have only been using them for a couple of weeks so I can't attest to the quality of the elastic after a long period of time. However, it is nice and tight as of now. They didn't shrink or fade when I washed them. A word of caution though, WASH THEM SEPARATELY if you have the burgundy color. They will most definitely bleed their color on anything else you wash them with. The chairs I have them on have a stripe pattern on the cushions, and if you look really closely you can just barely see the stripes through the covers. It doesn't bother me because you would really have to be looking to notice it. I can imagine that you can really see through the lighter colors, though, so keep that in mind if you are wanting to purchase the light colored covers and your chair cushions have a pattern on them. They also had a strong smell when I opened them and even after I washed them the smell wasn't completely gone, but with use and just being out in the open air, the smell has dissipated. I only need 4 so it nice to have 2 extra to quickly slip on while I'm washing another if something gets spilled.
