Everyone Will Love This Classic! - When my brother was struggling with his faith, a coworker gave him this simple allegorical book about Jesus as "The Good Shepherd". Hannah Hurnard writes much like CS Lewis. After my brother finished reading this book, he got down on his knees and sincerely prayed, "Good Shepherd, if You truly exist, I will give you my entire life, if only you make MY feet like "Little Miss Much-Afraid"'s and You allow me to walk on The High Places with You! I don't care what price I must pay, just allow me to walk in the heights with You, Jesus. Amen." One week later, my brother was driving home in a 35mph zone when suddenly a drunk driver hit his car, directly from behind at a speed of 82 mph, paralyzing my dear brother, Jeff, from the neck down, permanently! I'm not at all suggesting this will happen to anyone else! But in God's omniscience, He knew Jeff needed to be in what Jeff called "his cacoon of protection" from a very seriously sinful prior life! Jeff suffered for many months at first as he began to learn how to live as a quadraplegic, but he never once complained. Never! He gave thanks to God for answering his prayer in this way. Jeff went on to graduate Liberty University. Then he went out in his wheelchair-lift van to testify and preach. Especially if you are in the middle of hard times, this book will speak to your heart! I have even read the illustrated version to my 5th grade daughter and she loved it! Now when things are hard or people are mean, I remind her of Much Afraid and her journey and how the Shepherd was always there when she called.
